With great determination and conviction, many make New Year resolutions. You must have already guessed what the most common resolution in the world might be. The most common New Year resolution is to start exercising!
Only 8% of people stick to their resolutions for more than a month. The remaining 92% give up in less than a month, according to Zig Ziglar, world’s most famous motivational speaker. The main reason for this is a horrible thing called ‘Cardio Boredom’. If you too are a prey to cardio boredom, then here are five proven ways to overcome it:
Listen to Your Favorite Music
Music is the most popular and effective form of cardio boredom buster. You can listen to any music of your choice. It is bound to keep your mind busy and help the minutes go by faster.
If you are already listening to music while doing cardio, but you are still bored, try listening to a different kind of music. Or you can even try shuffling your favorite songs. This will keep the next song a surprise and you will never get bored!
Exercise in a Different Location

Many get bored of cardio exercises because they are bored of exercising at the same place. You can overcome cardio boredom by changing the location of your workout. If you have been exercising at the gym so far, then it is a good idea to try outdoor fitness exercises for a while and vice versa. If your house is your gym, then changing the position of the equipment can also help.
Change Your Exercise Equipment
Using the same exercise equipment for too long can make the workout seem boring. By changing your equipment, you can provide yourself with a new challenge. If you have been using the treadmill all these days, try using the stair stepper, recumbent bike or elliptical. The best thing that you can do is to exercise on each of the equipments for 10 minutes.
Skipping is also an excellent cardio exercise. ‘Speed skipping’ can burn 300 to 400 calories in 30 minutes. Besides, skipping ropes are fun because you can experiment with different styles of skipping.
Use It As ‘Me’ Time
Exercising is a great time to think more about yourself, your problems or your plans for the future. This will keep your mind busy and at the same time, you might find solutions to your problems. This is the most time efficient cardio boredom buster!
Try Doing Superset Workouts
This is the most effective boredom buster for many. A superset workout is done when two exercises are performed continuously, without a gap. The exertion while doing this is so intense that you won’t even have the time to get bored. This technique allows you to burn more calories in less time.
Another reason why the superset workouts are so popular is that, this technique enables you to pay more attention to your exercise. But in all the other techniques, you remove boredom by diverting your attention to something else.
Other Techniques
You can also make cardio a pleasure by watching TV, movies or listening to podcasts while exercising. Changing the intensity of your workout or having a workout partner is also another technique to make cardio enjoyable. Choose the technique that suits you best and watch that boredom disappear.
